Congratulations to the new winners!

Congratulations to Tatiana Saltykova, new 1st place finisher in the Fastest Informix DBA Contest II. I really appreciate your participation in this contest.

Following Advanced DataTools’ first fun and successful Fastest DBA Contest at the International 2009 IIUG Informix Conference in Kansas City, April 26-29, we sponsored a NEW, online contest for Informix users to find and honor the fastest Informix DBAs.

Out of over 70 registrations, 8 people performed the benchmark in under 6 minutes. The challenge this time was to take a batch billing SQL job that runs a series of inserts and updates that taking over 40 hours to run, and to optimize it and the Informix database configuration.

To qualify for the Grand Prize, the user had to be 1) a DBA employed at a company using Informix internally, 2) not a consultant, and 3) not an IBM employee. And to add to the excitement, there was only 5 seconds between the top two Grand Prize winners:

  • New Grand Prize and Fastest Overall Time - Fastest User DBA: Tatiana Saltykova

  • Grand Prize - Fastest User DBA: Eric Rowell

Congratulations to our next six Fastest DBA contestants:

  • Fastest Consultant: Warren Donovan
  • Fastest International DBA: Malte Sukopp (Germany)
  • User DBA: Yunyao (Frank) Qu
  • Consultant: Jeff Filippi
  • User DBA: Tammy Frankforter
  • Fastest Youngest DBA: Riya Kariath
